Amigos de Picos is a non-profit organization, founded by the Belgians Paul Indekeu and Madelon Van
Nieuwenhove. As every individual has a fundamental right for food, health care and education,
Amigos de Picos aims to contribute to improve the situation of the children of the poor neigbourhood
of Picos with respect to these fundamental rights. As public education in Brazil is not delivering,
Amigos de Picos engages, for almost 10 years now, in qualitative, private education for the children in
Picos, a small town in Brazil. On the one hand, we grant scholarships to talented children. On the
other hand we invest in the infrastructure of local schools. The combination of individual help through
scholarships and infrastructural help is very important to Amigos de Picos.
